After seeing the 90's version of the play on film and the Black Friar's play, I got two totally different impressions of the story. The way Petruchio's manner was presented changed the overall comedy value. Like when Petruchio was stern and scary, it seemed more of a tragedy, but when Petruchio shoulder bumps his Pal Grumio, he seems like a genuinely nice guy with intelligence.

Yeah I really saw how this play could be viewed from totally different angles after re-reading and analyzing it. When i first read it I was angry and felt bad for Kate but the more i went back and talked about it I started to like it.I realized that the "taming" wasn't so terrible after all and that the idea of having the one person you put away your wildness for is kind of nice. It's so complicated and hard to understand because it's wrapped in the simple idea of love. Love can't really be pinned down but i feel like Shakespeare really showed the often neglegted side of an intimate relationship here with his omission of "lovey-dovey" scenes and instead more subtle, and meaningful actions.
I just really liked this play.

Though i still think the end (Kate's speech) is a little...suspicious?
